This course is intended for new microdrone pilots (under 250 g) and is designed to provide the essential foundations of safe flight and Canadian regulations, at your own pace and with no prerequisites.

The KoptR Image introduction to microdrones training is an online course designed for individuals who wish to begin flying microdrones in a safe and responsible manner. It is intended for new users as well as those who want to better understand the rules, limitations and best practices associated with microdrone use in Canada.

This training covers essential concepts across several topics, including:

  • regulations
  • airspace
  • basic meteorology
  • microdrone components and systems
  • human factors
  • the progression of an operation, from preparation to post-flight

The content emphasizes site assessment, risk management and decision-making to promote safe behavior in all situations.

Offered in a self-paced format with no fixed schedule, the course provides access to an online portal featuring visual presentations, learning resources and practical tools. Participants progress at their own pace and can access the content at any time. A certificate of participation is issued upon completion of the course.

Participants who choose to continue with the advanced operations theoretical training within one year of completing the introductory course receive an applicable credit, facilitating progression toward a higher level of certification.

This training serves as an excellent introduction for anyone wishing to operate a microdrone responsibly and provides a solid foundation before pursuing more advanced programs.
